Awards
The Francis X. Hursey Award is named for Frank Hursey, the discoverer of QuikClot®. Hursey is a scientist and engineer, and also the founder and President of Z-Medica Corporation. This award is given annually to, "the civilian first responder who best exemplifies the Z-Medica creed: The greatest privilege is to make a difference." The award named for Hursey was a surprise tribute from Z-Medica's leadership team.
Z-Medica Corporation accepts nominations for these awards year-round. The awards are presented annually.

2005 - Deputy Daniel Johnson of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office in Tampa Florida, who used the QuikClot® deployed in his cruiser to save a civilian who had accidentally shot himself with a .44 caliber handgun. |

2004 - Corporal Joseph Walsh of the Pennsylvania State Police, Tunkhannock Station,
who saved an accident victim with a severed femoral artery in a local emergency room by quickly supplying and supervising the emergency room physician in the use of the QuikClot® he carried in his police vehicle.
